There’s an moose in my book !
Don’t worry, it’s just my new leather bookmark from Norway:
The moose (North America) or common European elk (Europe), is the largest living species in the deer family, and they are distinguished by the palmate antlers of the males. The word moose is both singluar and plural.
The British English name for moose is elk. Confusingly, the word elk is used in North America to refer to a different animal, the Cervus canadensis.
Vehicle collisions with moose are very frequent in the Scandinavian Peninsula, causing the death of thousands of moose every year. Triangular warning signs are common on the roads in Sweden, Norway and Finland.
