The Pickwick Papers

July 27, 2010

This is a leather bookmark from England, showing characters (Mr. Pickwick, Sam Weller, The Fatboy, Mr. Winkle and Mrs. Bardell) from The Pickwick Papers, the first novel by Charles Dickens:

In The Pickwick Papers, Mr Samuel Pickwick is a kind and wealthy old gentleman, and the founder and president of the Pickwick Club. To extend his researches into the peculiar and curious phenomena of life, he suggests that he and three other members should make journeys to remote places from London and report their findings to the other members of the club. Their travels throughout the English countryside by coach provide the main theme of the novel.
